Millions of Years

Earlier, I talked about how the age of the Earth was determined using a radioisotope method for dating the meteorite sample. There are numerous radioisotope methods that can be used for dating samples, and ages can be calculated via a relatively complicated mathematical equation. Once you enter the correct values, it will give you an age for the sample. The following is a simple version of that equation. If we knew the initial concentration of element A and isotope B, the rate of decay, and the current concentration of element A and isotope B, we could calculate the age of the Earth by the following general formula.

This may seem like a relatively straightforward equation, but can you see a problem with the equation that would make it difficult to determine the true age of a sample? A scientist can only measure the current concentrations of the isotopes and the current decay rate. We do not know the initial concentrations of A and B or if the decay rate has changed since the beginning of time because no scientist was there to record these measurements. In order to calculate an age, several assumptions have to be made about the initial concentrations and the decay rate, and the accuracy of this method solely depends on the accuracy of these assumptions. With another choice of assumptions, I could calculate an age of 1000 years for the Earth. Would you believe that age? An age of 1000 years is just as correct as the 4.6 million-year age claimed by evolutionists?

Since the absolutely correct assumptions can never be known, this method can hardly be called scientific proof that the Earth is billions of years old. So what happened to the scientific process? I mentioned that proof comes only when there is one possible hypothesis that is totally consistent with the facts. Evolutionists claim the age is 4.6 billion. According to the Bible, creationists claim that God did it in about 6000 years ago, and let's not forget my 1000-year hypothesis. I think we can all agree that there is enough historical proof to show that my hypothesis is not correct, but why do evolutionists not consider the creationist hypothesis to be a possibility?

Since evolution is SCIENCE and creation is RELIGION, evolutionists reject creation as the correct hypothesis because it is not science. Therefore, the claim of billions of years must be correct since only one hypothesis remains. Evolutionists have always believed that God did not create the Earth, and if we say he did, they argue that divine intervention is not science either! Could it be that EVOLUTION IS A BELIEF? Unfortunately, it is just a belief that God did not create the universe!

In reality, there was no scientific evidence that proved the Earth to be billions of years of age. There was not sufficient information to make such a conclusion via the scientific process. Evolutionists kindly provided the necessary assumptions which allowed them to calculate a number of 4.6 billions years for the age of the Earth.

Did science prove anything about the age of the Earth? Is there any proof that the Earth is old? The answer is No!

In reality, an evolutionary belief dated the Earth, not science!
